WMD Again

Thursday, August 28th, 2003

I want the US forces to find Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). I am worried about what it says about the US government if they are not found. Now it st looks like people are starting to float a theory that Iraq sent bogus defectors to fool the US into thinking there were WMDs and that ‘s why they haven’t found any. This could be very bad, because it says that the US government is easily mislead. That and I would ask why Iraq would do this. It makes no sense, since Iraq was under sever sanctions why the UN thought there were WMDs.

Jurassic Disney

Yea, it’s all fun and games until the robotic dinosaur runs amok and kills a kid. Then they’ll have to put it down :-) .

Update Howto: Backup

Monday, August 25th, 2003

I’ve updated my howto with a bunch of changes, the most predominant being a example of how I use my backup strategy on my computer. You can download the new version here. Enjoy

10 Commandments

Thursday, August 21st, 2003

I’m a firm believer in the government not displaying religious doctrine. I feel in a truly equal society composed of people of different (or no) religions that to display a religious bent unfairly represents those of the society who ascribe to a different belief system.

That said, I do have to admire a person who sticks to their personal beliefs in defiance of authority. While I think the monument to the 10 commandments should be removed, I don’t hold fault with those willing to risk jail for what they believe in.

Strange Sisters

I really want to read some of these books.

Legal Fun

Monday, August 18th, 2003

Imagine a world, where telling the truth about something gets you thrown in jail. Now imagine a world revealing flaw is a criminal offense. Kind of scary, but apparently it’s happening in the United States. First the DMCA was used to hamper a presentation about SDMI security. Now laws are making it illegal to notify people about flaws in a system. I personally don’t believe in the argument that telling people about a flaw in a system is paramount to making the flaw available. If I were a customer of a bank that refused to fix a flaw in their online security that put my money at risk, I would want to know about it. Instead, a bank could threaten a person with criminal charges to bury the flaw until it was critical to fix it, i.e. when someone’s money has gone missing.

Singing Naked Boy

Thursday, August 14th, 2003

There are some things that are just wrong, and 8 men dancing naked to a salsa beat just seems like it qualifies :-) .

Stupid People

Saturday, August 9th, 2003

As a genral rule, beating anyone with brass knuckles is just wrong. Beating older people makes it even more wrong. I have to wonder, at what point did they think “hey, let’s beat the old people, that will teach them”. Idiots.

Strong Pup

Thursday, August 7th, 2003

As a rule, I am against euthanizing animals except when the pup is going to die painfully, but I also understand the need for the state to do it. So when I hear a story of a pup surviving an attempt to euthanize him, I get a warm feeling. I wonder if Basenjis are just tough little dogs. I had a pup named Zeke that got a hold of some anti-freeze and we had to euthanize him. He refused to die. It took a couple of shots of the drug to fully arrest his heart.

Updated Howto Backup Posted

Thursday, August 7th, 2003

As in life, so in writing: things change. And so has my howto backup document. I’ve added some sections, tweaked out some others, and, for some reason, had a 12-fold increased the file size. Anyway, it’s still less then a 100k. You can download it here.
